The Virtuous Woman - Part 5

Updated: Dec 8, 2020

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”
Proverbs 31: 25-29

Blessed!

Here, this utmost praise comes from the family. Your treasures. The ones who you work hard

for and love so dearly.

Sometimes it’s those very loved ones that drive you insane. (Can I get an amen?) Jokes aside, every family has their challenges, but it’s up to us to strive through and lean on God for strength. He is faithful to help us through. Always.

Sometimes the praise is easy – don’t shy away from it. You deserve every bit of praise! But for those who don’t hear the praise as often, just remember that God thinks you’re awesome and so do I!

Other times it’s the little things that we may overlook – but they still count too!

I can’t tell you the overwhelming sense of accomplishment that I feel when my children tell me, “Mom, this food is yummy!” Then I notice my husband go back to clean out the pot and come back smiling saying, “This was really good!”.

All I did was cook dinner. At the most part – I had to throw something together quickly and didn’t really have time to follow a fancy recipe or anything. But I prepared a meal for my family. And they were thankful for it. So simple!

If you were to impress anyone in the world, I would say the best people to do that is for is your family. No matter what you bring to the table, love will always be there.

You surpass them all!

Ever been in an argument where people were arguing whose mom was the best cook? It happens! And you know what? Unless they actually have a cook-off, each family will maintain that they have the best one – so you will always be the best in your house! How awesome is that?

Anyone living out that truth of being awesome in your home? Or maybe you don’t feel so awesome. That’s okay – again, remind yourself that you are a virtuous woman and God honours all the hard work you put into your family – eventually, the blessings do come.

Better yet – find an virtuous woman in your life and tell her she’s awesome – because we need to look out for one another too!

I’ll leave you with this encouragement from Philippians 4:8:

Finally…, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Could you be one of those things?

Be Blessed!
